Hill tribe students from San Phranetre School, Sai Sai District, Chiang Mai recently participated in the grand opening ceremony of the Central Aquarium, along with Miss Janista Liewchalermwong (center in white), advisor to the minister of Social Development and Human Security who presided over the opening ceremony at Central Airport Plaza.

Deputy general manager Surat Saengcharassri (2nd right) of the Chiang Mai Hill Hotel was on hand to welcome Pol Maj - Gen Yongyuth Sarasombat (2nd left), permanent secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office on the occasion of his visit to inspect the government work in the North. At right is Watcharaporn Chongpaophan, director of sales promotion at the hotel.

Honda Auto Mobil (Thailand) Co., Ltd. hosted a meeting on Product Comparison & Test Drive at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel. Guest speakers were Somsak Kusanto and Puangpetch Worakitchpipat, from the company’s head office training division.

On hand to serve the local fish-fond community were Arie de Keijzer (left), GM of the Rydges Hotel, and Rudy van den Berg, Horeca Company, at the first-ever Herring Festival which took place last Saturday at the Rydges’ poolside. Herring and Matjes is a culinary specialty from the Netherlands; the herrings’ season is traditionally opened by auctioning the very first barrel of herring, containing about 50 fish, for a sum reaching about 3,500 euro. The fisherman can of course keep the money, whereby the barrel with the salted herring is donated to H. M. The Queen of the Netherlands.

Dr Amnuay Kajeena, director of the Office of Policy and Strategies, Office of the Permanent Secretary of Public Health Ministry (inset) chaired a workshop on budgeting administration at the provincial level. The workshop was held at the Northern Heritage Resort and Spa in Chiang Mai from June 2-5.

Shiseido (Thailand) Co., Ltd. recently organized their annual seminar for the north at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel. Guest speakers Darin Youngfuangmon, training division manager, and Lamyong Kolawiyothin, assistant manager, provided much insight for the audience of company salesmen and women.
