The next Chiang Mai ladies Lunch Bunch is scheduled at The House Restaurant at noon on Wednesday July 23. The cost is B280 for a sit down lunch. Those who have already dined at The House know this is a great price for great food. If you haven’t it will be a delicious chance to sample a part of the menu. Since it is going to be a sit down lunch, it is important that the numbers are right. Lots of small tables and big ones for those who want to be a large group. The Amari Rincome Hotel is celebrating Swiss National Day on 1st August 03 with a mouthwatering buffet, prepared by Chef Adrian. All 4 corners of Switzerland will be represented, including Walliser, Fish Soup, Risotto Tichenese and Zuger Kirsch Gateau. Don’t miss this special Swiss cuisine evening in the ‘La Gritta’ surroundings with ‘Dang Fantastic’s Live Band’ and a lucky draw. Adults 490 baht net, Children 300 baht net. The well known restaurant‚ Le Coq d’Or’ in Chiang Mai offers new light summer lunch menus, starting at only 390 baht ++ for a 4-course menu plus coffee or tea. So next time you feel like dining in a most elegant, yet relaxed, setting, take your business partners or family there. Are you pining for some homemade breakfast before hitting the town? Or maybe a light lunch? Stop in at Petri’s, a small neighborhood restaurant, opposite Kad Suan Kaew. Toast, homemade pita bread, juice, butter, jam, coffee as much as you like plus a big selection of breakfast items to choose from. Like Swedish potato pancakes with bacon or an omelet with cream stuffing of shrimp, ham, bacon or mushroom. All served for only 95 baht.

From now until October 2003, La Veranda French Restaurant introduces a delicious hot summer season menu, with prices starting at B. 290 per person. With over 20 years French gastronomie experience, Chef Gilles Polteuin offers 6 new menus with an emphasis on quality and health - all fruit and vegetables from Royal Project farms. The latest addition is Doi-Kham trout filet with Riesling white wine sauce, and filets of catfish Grenobloise style. The chef also recommends his iced mango souffl้. Education

Come and find out about the IELTS test. New Cambridge Institute Thailand will be in Chiang Mai to give a presentation on July 19th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Kad Suan Kaew. The seminar will be delivered by an experienced IELTS examiner. Please contact 053-894683 for further information.

Environmental education for free! Chiang Mai University’s Forest Restoration Research Unit is pleased to announce that its new education program can provide free training and extension services to schools and other community groups in forestry and other environmental issues. Free Aerobic Classes - Chiang Mai Municipality is teaching aerobic classes free of charge. Monday through Friday at the old municipality sports stadium (gym 2) between 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Entertainment

Saturday jazz at the Amari Rincome Hotel - each Saturday at 6.30-10.00 p.m., La Gritta Restaurant at the Amari Rincome Hotel, Chiang Mai arranges a live jazz performance by Daeng Fantastic team of four. Listen to jazz favorites down the years, and enjoy a specialty theme buffet created by expert chef, Adrian O’Herlihy. Bring along family or friends.

Events

A land and house fair and auction, part of a joint project between Siam Commercial Bank Co., Ltd. (Public) and Legal Execution Department, Chiang Mai will be held four times this year: July 19, August 23, September 6 and Oct 25 at Lotus Pang Suan Kaew Hotel. Confiscated properties will be auctioned and special interests in personal loans will be offered to bidders.

The Lanna Art Festival will be held July 16-23 this year at many sites in Chiang Mai, including the Three Kings Monument, Chiang Mai City Museum, Thapae Road, Ban Bor Sang Umbrella-Making center in San Kampaeng District, and Thawai Village in Hang Dong District. Conference on Religion and Globalization - Payap University’s Institute for the Study of Religion and Culture and the Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies, together with other co-sponsors invite interested people to attend an international and interfaith academic conference on Religion and Globalization which is being held from July 27 - August 2, 2003. Interfaith dialogue among Buddhists, Christians, Muslims and other religious communities will occur and many international speakers will deliver major plenary addresses throughout the week of the conference.
