Clubs

Ladies! Young and old, working women or housewives, old time residents or ‘just new in town’. You are all invited to join September’s Lunch Bunch and meet new friends. The new ‘Chiang Mai Spa Society’ is looking for members. Their aim is to make Chiang Mai the “Wellness Capital of Asia”. The Spa society is supported by the Ministry of Public Health and Chiang Mai Public Health office. To become a member your field and interest should be from one of the following categories: health service (spas & long stay lodgings); health products (herbal products) or medical service (private hospitals). The Spa society would like to set up standards of spas and to support tourism - regarding spas - in northern Thailand. The well known restaurant‚ Le Coq d’Or’ in Chiang Mai offers new light summer lunch menus, starting at only 390 baht ++ for a 4-course menu plus coffee or tea. Are you pining for some homemade breakfast before hitting the town? Or maybe a light lunch? Stop in at Petri’s, a small neighborhood restaurant, opposite Kad Suan Kaew. Toast, homemade pita bread, juice, butter, jam, coffee as much as you like plus a big selection of breakfast items to choose from. Like Swedish potato pancakes with bacon or an omelet with cream stuffing of shrimp, ham, bacon or mushroom. All served for only 95 baht.

Environmental education for free! Chiang Mai University’s Forest Restoration Research Unit is pleased to announce that its new education program can provide free training and extension services to schools and other community groups in forestry and other environmental issues. To celebrate the friendship of two countries, Nat Studio and Payap University in association with the Embassy of Brazil proudly present Piano Four-Hand Concert by Thai pianist Nat Yontararak and Brazilian pianist Paulo Zereu on Saturday September 6 at 19.00 hrs. at the Kad Theater. The two pianists will join hands in the sweet and fun piano music in a Latin mood. They will wrap up the program with Liszt’s famous Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 which was heard in the academy award cartoon “Tom & Jerry”. All proceeds support Leukemia patients. Events

Beauty Suit’ performance & installation art exhibition at Chiang Mai University Art Museum from Thursday September 4 - until Friday September 26. An entertaining mix of mediums including video, sculpture, performance and sound. The exhibition is a collaboration between young Chiang Mai and international artists. Saturday September 27 – Sunday September 28, the 7th Family Fun Rally from Amari Rincome Hotel to Anghang Nature Resort will be held. A major exhibition and yet another art highlight will take place soon at Gong Dee Studio on Soi 1 Nimmanhaemin Road. Frank Roedel, a famous artist from Germany will show some of his well-known collages from September 5 – 22, daily from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. This exhibition is being made possible by sponsors like the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the honorary Consul of the Federal Rep. of Germany in Chiang Mai, Schenker, Schering, the Checkpoint Charlie Foundation, C.S.B. A land and house fair and auction, part of a joint project between Siam Commercial Bank Co., Ltd. (Public) and Legal Execution Department, Chiang Mai will be held two more times this year: September 6 and Oct 25 at Lotus Pang Suan Kaew Hotel. Confiscated properties will be auctioned and special interests in personal loans will be offered to bidders.
