Panisa Gallery has a new art exhibition ‘Mood,
Colour and Voyage’ by Tanorm Kongchand and Narat Panmanee, April 9

“Follow the Footsteps of Traditional Lanna Artisans”
April 9-15, from 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. at the CMU Art Museum,
Nimmanhaemin Road (opposite Ton Payom Market). Experience workshops in
textile weaving, ‘Thangyin’ lantern making, basketry, pottery, big drum
competition, etc., and a rural village-style market providing Lanna food,
drink and merchandise. Lanna Saa paper lanterns will receive a mass lighting
on April 15.
Songkran activities in
Chiang Mai
Cultural processions
of 8
Lanna provinces and 5 countries in the Mekong Sub-region on Saturday, April
10 from 4.30 p.m. – 8 p.m. The processions will begin at the Wing
41, Sanam Bin Road heading to Chaeng Ku Hueang, entering through Suan Dok
Gate. The end of the processions will be at Nong Buak Hat Public Park. The
principle ceremony will take place in front of Nong Buak Hat Public Park at
6:30 p.m.
A musical fountain show entitled The River of
Friendship, Lanna Civilization, and Cultures will be shown daily at
9.30 p.m. from Friday April 2 - Sunday April 15 on the bank of the Mae Ping
River, in front of the Office of the Chiang Mai Municipality.
Happenings At Nong Buak Hat Public Park:
Daily from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Friday April 2 - Sunday
April 11: Cultural presentations and demonstrations of the 5
Greater Mekong Sub-region countries and the group of the 8 upper northern
provinces will be shown daily at Nong Buak Hat Public Park. Represented will
be the 8 upper northern provinces and the five Greater Mekong Sub-region
countries.
Daily from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.: Exhibition of OTOP
products from the 8 Lanna provinces, demonstration and sales of
Grand Lanna cuisine and products from the Royal Projects.
From Friday April 9 – Sunday April 11: Tourism
trade and consumer fair.
April 13 - 6 a.m. Merit making, 8.30
a.m. Thapae Gate - Songkran festival opening ceremony,
followed by a ‘Lady riding a bicycle with umbrella’ contest.
April 15 1 p.m. procession to the governor’s house for
a water blessing ceremony, around Ratchadamnoen Road.
April 13 and 14 at Wat Phra Singh: Lanna speech
contest and games for kids and teenagers. From around 1 p.m. until 9

Childbirth Preparation Classes - Especially for
first time parents who are interested in the Bradley method, Juanita Duong,
Diane Smith and Lori Rowe work together to teach a series of two 2-hour
classes that will help prepare a couple for the birth of their baby. After
the birth, one of these nurses will also do a follow-up visit to answer any
