PM soaks up Songkran atmosphere in Chiang Mai

Even Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra got into the fun during this year’s Songkran madness in Chiang Mai. PM Thaksin was out in the middle of it all with his daughter Pimparnthong “Ung Ing” Shinawatra and eight of her closest friends from Bangkok. They cruised through town in a six-wheel pickup, enjoying this year’s Grand Lanna Civilization Songkran Festival. Heartfelt thanks from the C.M.S.A. to the organizers and visitors of the Chiang Mai Sixes

Is it really only one week since I wrote that the Sixes were starting - it feels like one month! I have watched, listened and spoke about cricket every day. I cried when the Sawasdee Cricket medals and T-shirts were given out (even the small size was too big for some of the players!) and I laughed at the antics of some of the visitors at the Pig Picking Night.

I felt an overwhelming pride as I watched the Under 13 Squad walk onto the ‘big’ wicket, all dressed in their whites, with their heads held high, and I jumped up and down when guests appeared on the C.M.S.C.A. stand to give us donations.

Visa International push e-payment for four northern provinces

Visa has launched its international standard electronic payment system in Northern Thailand. Provinces covered by the new e-payment system are Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang and Lamphun.

Somboon Korbtheeranond, Thailand and Indo-China manager of Visa International said, “This electronic payment is more convenient and easy to use for businessmen, especially in the business related tourism.”
