Newly opened La Luna Gallery in Chiang Mai is ready to present its first major exhibition: White Mornings and green buffaloes - visions of Vietnam”, featuring around twelve Vietnamese artists. Some of the artists are already famous and well-established internationally, while others are still young and upcoming and have never exhibited outside Vietnam before. The exhibition runs from June 5 to July 15 at La Luna Gallery, 190 Charoenrajd Road, Chiang Mai. Ph. (053) 306 678.

The Ladies’ Lunch Bunch meeting for June will be held at Chan and Pauline’s restaurant on June 23 beginning at noon. The restaurant is located exactly opposite the Northern Farms shop on Huai Kaew Road. It will be a set lunch with a choice of main course, either smoked pork with mushroom sauce or fresh fish. The Influential Sri Lanka? A continuation of work by Chiang Mai-based photographer Angela Srisomwongwathana. Black & white pictures and color range from fine, symbolic stone carvings to world-class 5th century frescos. A-Gallery, opposite Gong Dee Studio, on Nimmanhaemin, Soi 1 until July 22, from Monday – Friday, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

INTG: The next meeting of the Informal Northern Thai Group is Tuesday July 6, 7:30 p.m. at the Alliance Fran็aise Chiang Mai. Everybody is welcome. The speaker for this INTG talk will be Dr. Duongchan Apaavaatjrut Charoenmuang and the theme is “The impact of Air Quality on Chiang Mai residents”. Please note that the July talk is on the first Tuesday, July 6.

The Whiffenpoofs are coming to town. 7 p.m. on Friday, June 25, at the Payorm Room of the Amari Rincome Hotel. Mark your calendars: on Friday, July 2 at 7.30 p.m. at the multi-media room, Mae Kao campus, the music department at Payap University presents a concert of Chamber Music featuring clarinet, performed by Chaipruk Mekara, clarinetist, Karen Wernli, cellist, and pianists Bennett Lerner and David Wilson. The program will be Beethoven’s Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano, Debussy’s Rhapsody for Clarinet and Piano, Mekara’s “Wung Weyng” (“Lonely”) for solo clarinet, and Brahms’s Sonata No. 1 for Clarinet and Piano. Admission is free!

Every Friday Amari Rincome Hotel in Nimmanhaemin Road has a Golden Oldies Night’ from the 60’s to the 80’s. Visit ‘La Gritta’ and experience the nostalgia of the 60s, 70s and 80s with music from Daeng Fantastic and his band. The Friday night buffets feature roast sirloin of beef with Yorkshire pudding carved by the chef, as well as an extensive selection of premium charcuterie and salads. Education

Sunday June 13 at 4 p.m. will be another Thai-German Service at the German Christian School Chiang Mai (CDSC). The preaching will be done by Pastor Chaisri of Payap University and the translation by Joachim Bachhofer. Everybody is welcome. Come early, at 3.15 p.m., for coffee and cake!

I-TIM’s the International Hotel and Tourism Industry Management School located in Bangkok is now accepting applications for next intake, their 33rd which will commence in July 2004. Scholarships are available for the two-year diploma program in hotel and tourism management for both Thai and foreign students.
