A new hotel is being built in Chiang Mai, on the corner
opposite the Alliance Francaise and the well known Italian restaurant
Piccola Roma. The projected completion is January next year, and to make the
deadline, work is being carried out, non stop, 24 hours a day.
Chedi Chiang Mai is now under construction.
Eleanor Hardy, the General Manager says that GHM hotels
are characterized by individuality and style, with each hotel providing a
comfortable retreat where guests can enjoy intimate, elegant accommodation
and personalized, yet unobtrusive service.
The GHM group was established in 1992 by a group of
experienced hoteliers who made it their goal to develop and manage a
selected group of hotels, resorts and clubs in prime locations. Currently
they manage hotels like The Datai, situated on the north-western tip of the
Malaysian island of Langkawi; The Legian on Bali, an exclusive 67 suites
resort on Seminyak Beach; The Strand in Myanmar, which is again an all
suites hotel, located in the main commercial and diplomatic district of
In Thailand there is already The Chedi Phuket, 110
thatched cottages overlooking Pansea Bay with another in Oman.
Mrs. Hardy indicated The Chedi Chiang Mai will feature 52
deluxe rooms over 50 sq. m each, and 52 100 sq. M suites with a separate
Chedi Club check-in and special services, aiming to provide the ultimate in
holiday luxury. It will incorporate two small meeting rooms as well as spa
facilities, with 11 treatment rooms.
The decor will fit the Northern region, Lanna and
Colonial style, and the 250 seat restaurant will create a link between old
British and new contemporary Lanna style.
GHM’s vision for The Chedi is to create unique guest experiences in
style, in a comfortable, yet affordable environment.
