Community Happenings and Festivals to Honor H.M. Queen Sirikit

Monday, August 9, at 6.30 p.m., long life blessing for Her Majesty the Queen at the Pack Squadron in Mae Rim district. Minister’s spouses, who reside in the North, members of parliament from 11 northern provinces will join in the blessing. Channel 11 will televise the blessing ceremony live.

Tuesday, August 10, student activities will be carried out at Wattano Tai Payap School, including a nursery song competition, music performance from Montfort and Dara Academy College and many more contests.

Wednesday, August 11, in the morning, Chiang Mai governor will preside over the big cleaning day project at the Thapae Gate. Residents in every district will help clean their city. Fireworks at 9 a. m. to mark as a starting time for every district to start the cleaning activity. The Lanna style procession will walk around the city and gather at the Thapae Gate.

Thursday, August 12, 2004, 72nd Birthday of H.M. Queen Sirikit. Official honor ceremony of candle lighting, starting at 9 a.m. at the Chiang Mai University Convention Hall, as well as, again in the evening beginning around 7 p.m. at the same venue.

The Writers’ Group has re-launched itself and appeals to all writers to join their informal discussions and work critique.
