New record for Chiangmai Immigration?

New record for Chiangmai Immigration?

To the Editor Chiangmai Mail;

I recently visited Chiang Mai Immigration for my yearly renewal of my one-year retirement visa. I came to Immigration 9 a.m. and left Immigration at 9.40 the same day with my new one year extension.

Two very nice female officers, Sergeant Major Suranuch Srilaphet and Inspector Captain Napatsawon were in charge of renewing my visa. (This is a) very big improvement, considering that it could take up to 5 months not too long ago before Immigration approved your one-year extension.

Doesn’t like books about chrome pole dancers

Dear editor,

I am a fan of Chiangmai Mail despite the fact that some sections surely do not catch everybody’s general interest. You can not please them all but…

Your book reviewer Lang Reid did it again. Another ‘GoGo Bar review’ with the excuse of poetry, again from that dreadful author Dean Barret (sic). Even though Lang Reid claims that it is not his cup of tea, he never fails to review anything which comes near the chrome pole scene. He even goes so far to agree in his pompous ways of writing that he also refuses to fly on budget airlines until they buy a watch for the pilot … what does this has to do with a book review? Does he think he is funny?

Sorry, but firstly we couldn’t care less with which airline you are flying, secondly I am sure that all of us have faced delays of airlines which do not belong to the budget category, but rather call themselves ‘national carriers’, representing their respective country. And one more thing: why not tell Lang Reid that people who have the limited intelligence which belongs to a Dean Barrett reader, do not belong to the target group of Chiangmai Mail?

Thank you and keep up your otherwise great work.

Dennis van der Bergen
Lang Reid replies – I must admit I was unaware the ‘target group’ was so narrow minded! I will write out “I must try not to be pompous” 100 times, but at least I do know how to spell Barrett’s name!
