At a joint meeting of Rotary Club Chiang Mai South and
Rotary Club Doi Suthep, Rotarians from Amsterdam West honored Annelie
Hendriks with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award.
Pieter J. Th. Marres of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Bangkok presented
the Paul Harris award to Annelie Hendriks.
This prestigious award was presented to Annelie in
recognition of her development work in the Mae Sariang region of northern
Thailand through the Samsara Foundation.
Samsara also works with the Foundation for the Education
of Rural Children (FERC), Give and Live Foundation and a variety of other
resources which focus on building schools, dormitories, and libraries for
children who may otherwise would not have received an education.
Scholarships are also a focus of the organization.
Ambassador Pieter J. Th. Marres of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in
Bangkok presented the award. Of interest is that the ambassador and Annelie
were colleagues at the Royal Tropical Institute in the Netherlands some
thirty years ago. It was noted that “this is a special day for Annelie,
but also for the Netherlands and Thailand.”
