Chiang Mai’s annual Thanksgiving Program and Pie Fest, a night for the whole family on Wednesday evening, November 23 at 7 p.m. outdoors at the Christian Communications Institute (CCI) amphitheater. Lots of pies and performances provided by area schools and other local talent. CCI is located at the corner of Kaew Nawarat Road and Bumrungrat Road (kitty-cornered from Bud’s Ice Cream). The Writers Club and Wine Bar in conjunction with the Suvannabhumi art gallery is staging a six month season (until February 2006) of contemporary Burmese art, by leading artists, some of whose work can not be shown in Burma because of its political nature. A matchmaker service of sorts is fixing up families with pets who really need homes. The Lanna Dog Rescue, a very active group in Chiang Mai, is determined to improve the lives of abandoned and sick dogs that should have happy homes. Temples often act as shelters for unwanted dogs.
