Leather Craft offering top quality leather at Anusarn Market

Leather Craft offering top quality leather at Anusarn Market

Preeyanoot Jittawong

Winai Rimsawat and the popular products in his Leather Craft outlet on Anusarn market.

Anusarn Market, an interesting and long established tourist attraction in Chiang Mai, has served both Thai and foreign tourists for more than 30 years. Today, Anusarn Market has revamped its set-up to be more interesting and extending the hours to cover both morning and night markets, featuring many attractive shops for both tourists and residents.

One of the most popular and well-known shops is the Leather Craft shop. Its owner Winai Rimsawat or “Dawut”, said that leather products are very popular for both Thais and foreigners, and the main shop has been in this business for more than 20 years. All products are not just for sale locally, but are also exported to other countries. More than 4,000 products are exported to France and Germany each year, not including the products that sold in Thailand.

The branch at the Anusarn Market was established eight years ago, and following the good feedback from tourists Anusarn has become very crowded, simply because the market also provides many activities which attract more tourists.

Leather Craft products include handcrafted items such as shirts, pants, bags, belts, but no shoes; customers can get involved in the creation, and can order or design the pattern of the products themselves. Raw materials are top grade cow hide which is high quality and very durable. The price overseas is about five times higher than in Thailand, which make it very popular for the tourists and residents alike.

Leather Craft remains open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, tel. 0 1882 3709 or 0 1993 8682, for more information.
