What happened to the corniche?

What happened to the corniche?

Dear Chiangmai Mail,

I was taking a stroll along the riverside near to Waroros Market on Sunday afternoon and was disappointed to see what had happened to the corniche, it once was one of the nicer walks along the riverside. Now it is swamped railings to curbstone with food stalls, flower stalls, and derelict places of abode.

So much so that you have to negotiate a plethora of oncoming taxis to make any headway. Once past the market area it once again becomes a pleasurable walk. How can the Guardians of The Rose of the North allow this to happen? (Extract from http://chiangmaichit chat.blogspot.com)
