Run and Walk Rally: Chiang Mai’s ZONTA
International will be staging a Run and Walk Rally on Mother’s Day,
Saturday August 12
th at the
Chiang Mai Night Safari to raise funds for women and children in our
community who are affected by HIV/Aids. Everyone is invited to the fun event
which starts off at 6:30am at the park. To get there, just follow the signs
along Hang Dong Road and/or Chonlaprathan Road. Registration for the

“Care for Dogs” will open the doors of the new
shelter for Rescued Dogs and Puppies on Sunday August 20
th
between 10am and 4pm to mark International “Homeless Animals Day.”
Dog lovers and their kids are welcome to visit, cuddle cute puppies, take
part in a drawing competition to beautify the walls of the shelter and enjoy
“Phat Thai” or yummy ice-cream. You can also shop for doggie products.
If you’d like a new family member you can even take home one of our cute

Concert: The Multi-media Room at Payap University on
Friday the 11
th of August is the
venue for what is expected to be a stunning performance of pieces by Beethoven,
Mendelssohn, Liszt, Gottschalk and Gershwin. The performance by Ms.
Merry Manalac, a senior student from the Music Department of PYU commences
at 7:30pm and admission is free to everyone wishing to attend.
Fashion Show: Local clothing designers and
manufacturers are invited to submit examples of their work for possible
inclusion in a Lana Fashion Show at Central Airport Plaza to be held
between the 2
nd and 6th
of August. The show is being organized by the Office of Commercial Affairs,

“A Debussy Festival” of 6 concerts will begin on
Saturday, August 26th in the
Multi-media Room, Payap University, Mae Kao Campus, Chiang Mai.
The first concert in this series performed by Bennett
Lerner and Friends, Remi Namtep and Santi Saengtong commences at 7:30pm, the
admission price is 200 Baht. The Debussy Festival will continue with
concerts on November 18th,
February 2nd next year and a
Gala Finale on February 3rd.

Scholarships to study in the United States: Suitably
qualified Northern Thai Students aged 15-18 years are invited to apply to

Overstay fine’ more than doubles! The Thai Immigration Bureau has
announced that the overstay fine has changed from 200 baht per day to
500 baht per day. The increase was brought in on March 15. This may be of
particular interest to tourists, visiting guests, maids, and contractors.
