Fly me to the moon

A free plug this week only

Dear Editor,
I’ve lived in Chiang Mai a couple of years now, and have to say that my wife and I discovered the best little pizza place this week. They use a wood fired oven, and I have to say, our pizza among the best pizzas we’ve eaten in Chiang Mai.
Naples Pizzeria on 70/15 Chang Moi Rd. just before the Mike’s Burgers corner in the same complex as Hells Kitchen.
Not only was the pizza good, but the Caesar’s salad was also fantastic. If you like good Italian dressing....this is the place.
Buon Apetito,
Michael Berbae
Editor’s reply: I’ll have to agree it does serve up a good thin and crispy pie. They also have home delivery which is convenient.

Fly me to the moon

Dear Editor,
Chiang Mai’s Governor can no more guarantee that the smoke pollution will vanish by Songkran than he can fly to the Moon. (“Skies will clear up for Songkran vows the Governor.”) In 1999, a bad smoke year very similar to this one, the dangerous readings went on till June.
It is also misleading of the governor to say that the situation is “improving”. True, this week’s readings so far are lower than those of two weeks ago. But they are higher than last week’s. That’s unevenness, not improvement.
The Governor would be far more useful to his constituents were he to cease trying to fool them. He also needs to abandon such ridiculous schemes as spraying water from fire trucks; to stop blaming Korean barbeque restaurants for the smoke - and to attack the actual problem.
This means one thing and one thing only: enforcing the law to stop people from burning.
