Expats Club hosts US Consul General

Mrs. Bea Camp, US Consul General in Chiang Mai since 2004 was the guest
speaker at the June 9th meeting of the Expats Club.
Consul General Camp will be departing Chiang Mai and will take on a new
posting in Shanghai, China this summer.
She spoke about her experience as the chief diplomat at the American
consulate in Chiang Mai.
The Expats Club meets every 2nd and 4th Saturday at the Chiang Mai Orchid

Off to a rockin’ start
The first round winners Simple Tone
receiving their 5000 baht prize and a chance to compete in the grand
final in December.
JJ Market along with co-sponsors TITS 106.5 FM radio station and Paszo
Magazine held the first round of the 2007 JJ Talent competition which
brought out the first four bands competing for a prizes totaling 50,000
The Pa Jadd band was first on stage and they performed two jazz
variations to an enthusiastic crowd. The pop performing band named The
Other Side belted out some original scores and was a definite crowd
The talent competition which was simulcast on TITS 106.5 FM then brought
out band number three Pa Kilio who belted out some popular loud rock
songs popular with today’s younger ones.
But it was Simple Tone who stole the show with some pleasing Thai pop
music that placed them in first for the initial round. The winning band
members received an enthusiastic applause as they were announced the
winners and took home 5000 baht.
The talent competition will be held every month at JJ Market and winning
band will compete in the grand finale in December. They will also be
invited to play at the January 12, 2007 Charity Rooftop party at
Hillside Condo 4.
