Royal World Weightlifting Championships welcomes 93 countries

At the opening ceremony team members from 93 countries assembled at the 700th Anniversary stadium for the start of the Royal World Weightlifting Championships.

The Royal World Weightlifting Championships opened in Chiang Mai on September 16th at Chiang Mai 700 Anniversary stadium.
The opening ceremony was presided by Privy Councilor Dr. Kasem Wattanachai, and Major General Intarat Yodbangtoey, chairman of the Royal WWC.
Major Gen. Intarat said this tournament is a great opportunity for the athletes to prepare for the 2008 Olympics 2008 to be held in Beijing.
The 13 day event ends on September 26th with an awards ceremony and banquet dinner for the participants.
