Monthly Charity Rooftop dinner at the Holiday Inn

Monthly Charity Rooftop dinner at the Holiday Inn

Earlier this month, 57 friends of the Charity Rooftop Party descended on the newly remodeled Holiday Inn. The evening began with cocktails in the Jazz Lounge, mingling amongst old friends, being introduced to new ones, whilst listening to the Payap guys performing some fine jazz music. Everyone took full advantage of the 20% discount off cocktails and the bartenders and wait staff were kept very busy.

Alan Watts, the new general manager of the Holiday Inn popped in to welcome the guests.
Following the cocktail hour it was outside onto the newly refurbished terrace over looking the Mae Ping River for a lavish buffet dinner. Having rained most of the day, we were very lucky with the weather as the clear night sky only produced welcoming cool breezes. Françoise (the Chef) and his staff provided a delicious buffet whilst Luca (F & B Manager) was on hand the entire evening to ensure everything moved along without a hitch. Everyone agreed the staff did an excellent job.
There was a small raffle to raise money for the Charity Rooftop Party (to be held on 12 January 2008). The Holiday Inn generously donated Dim Sum lunches and buffet dinners, and Peter Malhotra, Managing Director of the Chiang Mai Mail, generously donated annual subscriptions for the paper. Nearly 6000 baht was raised – bringing the total raised so far to over 40,000 baht. With a goal of one million baht for the ‘Foundation to encourage the potential development of Disabled Persons’ there is still a long way to go.
Mary Berbae, John Cooley and Neil Robinson have arranged the next event – Monday 29th October (starting 2:30pm) – an afternoon of ‘Tea and Croquet’ at The Chedi Hotel. For those who know the hotel – it should be a very special event on the lawns looking over the Mae Ping River. Ticket price is 450 baht which includes full tea service and one complimentary cocktail. Tickets are limited to only 45 guests – so book early to avoid disappointment. For reservations or further info please contact charityrooftopparty @gmail.com
