Hill tribes suffering winter ailments
Mae Hong Son Public Health Office warns its
people, especially hill tribes, to beware of winter ailments. So far, 150,000
people are suffering respiratory diseases caused from smoke and cold weather.
Dr. Suwat Kittidilokkul, the head of Mae Hong Son Public Health Office, said
that the low temperature and cold weather could easily lead to sicknesses, so
people in mountainous areas should take great care of their health and stay
warm. This is especially important for the elderly and children.
Records of patients seeking medical treatment at health care centers and
hospitals in the province are reported below:
From October 2005 to September 2006, there were 153,198 people who suffered
respiratory diseases.
From October 2006 to September 2007, the number decreased to 151,044 people
suffering respiratory diseases.
