December has been another great month for the Chiang Mai Cricket Club. We beat Siam Cricket Club (the Parrots) in a thrilling match at Prem. Nick and Opf seeing us home by making 40 for the last wicket. Makki bowled brilliantly taking 6 wickets.
Members helped out at the ACC Under 15 tournament as scorers, match referees and 3rd umpires. Here’s how the league stands:

Match Report - Citylife v UN Irish Pub, December 30, 2007
The end of the year was witness to an exciting match between Citylife and the Irish Pub at the Gymkhana Club. Batting first, Citylife got away with a healthy 51 opening partnership and finished their 30 overs with a very respectable 249. A fine 76 by Makki and a well-compiled 46 by Dean Henderson was the basis of the innings.
One of the features was the fielding of the Irish Pub with excellent catches being taken by Dominic Williams (2) and Tee Lek and Dem (2). The catch of the day, however, was by Martin Papworth of Citylife with a diving left-handed grab.
After a comparatively slow start the Irish Pub middle order brought them close to success with 75 by Noor, before being caught by Dean Henderson, and an unbeaten 59 by Hassan to finish with 222.
Martin Papworth again shone with six accurate overs that returned him three wickets.
Thanks to Graeme for the match report, he doesn’t mention that the captains made him man of the match for his excellent bowling at the death!
Richard’s umpire’s report and ‘man of the match’
“Today, there was some exuberant batting, from both sides. There was also some highly expensive bowling. Witness Dean, Tahir and also Maki. There was some great hitting. Noor’s strike into the eucalyptus must have carried 140 yards or so.
“There was also some good fielding. Here, Dominic, George and Martin excelled.
“Even Graeme managed to stem the run rate at a very opportune moment.
“However, despite the several good batting performances from both sides, I think that Martin’s opening efforts and 3/16, his good fielding and possibly one of the best catches we’ll see gives him my vote.”
