Songkran

April 12. Drum Competition at the Three Kings Monument. Over 100 teams taking part.

April 13. Local Residents offer food to Monks from 6 am at Thapae Gate. Official Opening of Songkran at 08:09 at Thapae Gate. Ladies procession on bicycles carrying umbrellas from Narrawat Bridge, up Thapae Rd, expected to arrive Thapae Gate at 8:15 followed by a beauty contest. 2 pm Bhuddha Image Procession from the Governors Residence to Wat Phra Singh.

April 14. Ceremonies of ‘Returning sand to the Temple’ from 3 pm until 6 pm.

April 15. Respect to the Elders. Procession to The Governors Residence to pay respect, starting at The Three Kings Monument.

Groups and Meetings

The Royal British Legion Chiang Mai sub-branch. Informal social evening at The Olde Bell Loi Kroh Rd (next to the Raming Lodge Hotel). Wednesday April 2 from 7 pm. Textile Art Group. Regular meetings are held 12 noon on the first Friday of every month at the Raintree Centre, opposite Narawat Bridge. AUA Language Centre Rajadamoen Road. D & M Music Studio presents a Saxophone and Piano Duo Recital at 7:30 pm on March 29. Starring Thai Classical saxophonist Nopphon Phunsombatlert, based in France, and Elise Bron on Piano.

Book Kitavadhana, a talented and well-known local baritone, will give a recital of classical pieces and songs from famous musicals on Sunday March 30 at the Saisuree Chukikul Music Hall on Payap University’s Mae Jo Campus.
