Increase in fares

Dear Lady Mayor,
I believe the Songtaws are wanting to raise their prices to 20 bht minimum journey.
Is this within your jurisdiction?
If it is - may I suggest you allow it - but insist every Songtaw gets its emissions tested. I ride a bike - and it is very very bad riding behind the Songtaws - they seem to be the worst, followed by tuk-tuks and buses.
I believe most of the Songtaws are controlled by one man/company and never get tested.
This is an easy way to ensure pollution levels decrease.
If you do not have the equipment to test vehicles - may I suggest you borrow it from Bangkok - I am sure they will lend you it for short periods of time.
Regards
Steve
