11,000 monks take alms
to honour HM the
King’s 81st Birthday

This photo, captured from the rooftop
of the Amari Rincome Hotel, shows Chiang Mai’s Nimmanhaemindha Road transformed
into a sea of saffron robes early last Saturday morning as 11,000 monks from the
province turned out to collect alms and offer their blessings for His Majesty
the King’s 81st birthday, which took place the day before on December 5. This
was apparently the first time such a large gathering of monks had been organized
to mark this occasion.

Consulates set up help desk
at CNX for stranded travellers

Since the occupation by the PAD of the two Bangkok airports began two weeks ago,
there has been a fully manned desk at Chiang Mai International Airport ready to
assist travellers & tourists who are unable to get home as their long-haul
flights are routed from Bangkok.

Two coupes we don’t get here

I have just spent a week in the UK, and it was interesting to see
the cars we don’t get in Thailand. The first to catch my eye was a very
pretty two door Honda Coupe, based on the new Honda City we have here. It
was really a very well balanced car and I just wish they would build it
here. I’d buy one, Mr. Honda, I really would.
