The inaugural monthly Networking Event organised by Networking One
and sponsored by Chiang Mai’s newly arrived AA Insurance Brokers (leaders in
their field in Thailand) and the Chiang Mai Mail, got off to a great
start on June 5, with over 40 Thai and farang business people from across
the country in attendance. Le Méridien, the regular venue for the events,
provided an attractive setting and their usual impeccable service, with
wine, beer, canapés and ever-attentive staff. An impressive mixture of
business sectors were represented, including, of course, the media and
broadcasting, together with members and business owners from the financial
services industry, general businesses and even Thai Visa, the
long-established countrywide online expat forum.

the monthly networking meetings, assuring his audience that the event was
theirs to enjoy and to profit from in these difficult times.

Peter Malhotra, managing director of the Chiang Mai Mail, one of the
sponsors of the inaugural event, reminded his listeners that the newspaper,
the first English language publication in Chiang Mai, had originally been
established to inform and interest expat residents about news, events and
even gossip concerning Chiang Mai and its people, in the same manner as had
their local weekly papers in their home countries. Noting that other English
language publications were mainly aimed at the tourist market, he explained
that the Mail’s international coverage through the internet together
with its commitment to providing local coverage, both supports its loyal
readers and promotes business, tourism and social events in the north of
The event will continue at Le Méridien on the first Friday of every month,
with the next being held on July 3, and aims to provide a regular and
enjoyable opportunity for Chiang Mai business people to meet, network and
exchange views in a pleasant social environment. Entry is 300 baht per
person, to include wine, beer and canapés.
AA Insurance’s new office is now open in Chiang Mai, located at Rimping
