President Obama calls for action on climate change

On September 30, 2009, U.S. Consul General Michael K. Morrow led members of the Consulate community to visit baby panda Lhin Ping, highlighting American missionaries’ participation in the founding of the Chiang Mai Zoo over half a century ago. During the visit, the Consul General underscored President Obama’s message urging action on climate change.
The Consul General congratulated the Zoo on its sustainable growth as a center in northern Thailand of recreation, conservation and research, highlighting the success of the Panda Research Project. He encouraged the public to admire Lhin Ping not only for her beauty, but also as a symbol of wildlife under threat of extinction.

Army Development Unit celebrates 33rd anniversary

Soldiers of the 36th Development Unit based in Mae Hong Son, whose duty is to provide every kind of support to residents in isolated areas of the province are celebrating the 33rd anniversary of their founding on October 9. . Since 1979, they have repaired 795 km. of main roads, and 242 km.
