Rear Admiral Narong Nakthon of the Royal Thai Navy enacted a ceremony to honour the Statue of Krom Luang Chumporn, the “Father of the Royal Thai Navy”, marking Arphakorn Day on May 19, at his shrine in Wat Phrathart Chorm Taeng Temple in Tambon Sanpong, Mae Rim district, Chiang Mai. On this occasion, he also presented Arphakorn Scholarships to sons and daughters of Royal Thai Navy officials.


Miss Thailand World 2009 winner Pongchanoke Kanklub presented a donation of sports equipment to Prachum Nimnoo, the Director of Ban Pongyaengnok School from Mae Rim district at the ceremony held at Kantary Hills on May 15 in Chaing Mai. Miss Thailand World 2009 and her second runner –up Pornpimol Sukmai, returned to Kantary Hills Hotel where they had stayed before winning the crown.


Panit Charoenboon, center, Chief of the Chiang Mai Provincial Agriculture Office declared the first “World Lychee in Chiang Mai Day” open at the ceremony held by Chiang Mai Provincial Authorities, Chiang Mai Lychee Growers Networks, and private sector from May 19- 23, at Big C, Don Chan branch, Chiang Mai. The festival will be held annually to promote the tasty fruit here and abroad.
