A celebratory party was held at the Empress Hotel on Monday December 6 for government and military officials, foreign Consuls and Honorary Consuls and honored guests.


Chefs raise half a million baht for cancer research

In a spectacular extravaganza of gourmet food, prepared by Chefs from five leading 5 star hotels, Chiang Mai residents raised half a million baht to go to the Genetic Cancer Research Centre at Chulalongkorn Hospital which is working to improve diagnosis with molecular genetic techniques and improved testing methods and treatment.

Chef Chalong Sakkapalangkul of the dusit D2 started the evening off with a presentation of fabulous goose liver appetizers, followed by Chef Dominque Bugnand of the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Devi offering up delicious Canadian lobster and chanterelle mushrooms. Chef Peter Zimmerman of the Le Meridien Chiang Mai followed with two creamy soups with duck and red capsicum and lobster and peas. Chef Christopher Patzold of the Chedi Chiang Mai offered up the main course of roast lamb and the Four Season’s own Chef Rewat Srilachai topped it off with an amazing selection of desserts that could not but tempt even the most diet conscious diner.

The evening rounded off with an auction of Four Seasons stays, from the Maldives to a stay in the beautiful Tented Camp Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai. And at the suggestion of Mary, the individual services of the chefs were then auctioned off with Piergorgio of Italasia producing the winning bid on a dinner produced by the entire group.

The dinner and auction at the always beautiful Four Seasons Chiang Mai raised a half a million baht for cancer research.
