in the New Year

Chiang Mai Municipality rings in the New Year with lighted decorations at the Gates symbolizing the 7 wonders of the world to honor HM the King’s 84th birthday in 2011. A grand fireworks display at the 700 Year Stadium marks the most auspicious occasions of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej 83rd birthday and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 79th birthday in 2010 as Thailand welcomes in a new year and a new beginning. The show was presented by teams from five countries; The People’s Republic of China (PRC), Australia, the United States, Denmark and host country Thailand. Special celebrations around the city include the beautiful show at Tha Pae Gate The Chiang Mai Mail would like to wish all our readers a very Happy New Year for 2011.
