The lucky children and their caretakers
joined the Rotary Club Thin Thai Ngam for lunch before the presentation.

The Chiang Mai Rotary Club of Thin Thai Ngam held a scholarship
presentation in partnership with the Grandma Cares program that helps
children orphaned by HIV/AIDs to attend school. 31 children received
scholarships through the program, many of them having been in the
program for many years. Each child received 3,000 Baht from funds raised
by the Rotary women. However one lucky child, an adorable boy of around
4 years old received a scholarship from the Nokia Rotary in Finland of
78,000 Baht. The grateful grandmother who is raising the boy, who lost
both of his parents, was in tears as she thanked the Rotary for helping
The scholarship presentation was held at the Grandview Hotel on
Thursday, December 20 with visiting Rotary members former Spanish
diplomat and his twin brother Alberto and Tomas Moyano on hand to
present money to the children they help to sponsor. In addition to the
scholarhips, the children are sponsored by various individuals who help
cover the costs of an education including books, uniforms, lunch money
