Elephants celebrate their National Day

70 elephants gather to feast on National Elephant Day, a week after the Prime Minister agreed to outlaw the ivory trade in Thailand.

In a day made special for Thai elephants by the fact that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra recently agreed to ban the trade of ivory, elephants celebrated National Elephant Day with a great feast at the Maesa Elephant Camp in Mae Rim on March 13, 2013.

Local charity wins 2nd Best NGO in the North

In an awards ceremony at the Gateway Hotel in Phayao on March 7th, 2013 Operation Blessing Foundation (Thai) received second place honors as best non-government organization (NGO) in the northern provinces.

A Prayer for the Japanese tsunami victims

108 monks gathered on stage and prayed for those lost in the earthquake and resulting tsunami that hit Tohuku, Japan two years ago. The event, held at Nim City Airport on Sunday, March 17, 2013 saw Japanese residents joined by Thais and foreigners to remember those lost in the devastation that hit Japan two years ago on March 11.
