Farewell to Japanese Consul General Kazuo Shibata

Kazuo Shibata, the ranking diplomat in the diplomatic corps in Chiang Mai, bid farewell to his friends and colleagues at a party held at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel on April 18, 2013.
The Consul General of Japan and his wife greeted Chiang Mai Governor Tanin Subhasaen, Pol. Gen. Prasan Wongyai, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic and Dr.Supawat Poowakul, Chairman of the Thailand Council on Social Welfare Region 9. Other guests included U.S. Consul General Kenneth L. Foster, Chinese Consul General Zhang Weicai and honorary consuls from the United Kingdom, Germany, and France as well as local business people and members of various organizations from around Chiang Mai.

Governor Tanin said in his farewell speech that it had been an honor to work together with Consul General Shibata. He noted that in the 7 months since he had taken office as Governor, he had seen Consul General Shibata’s willingness and commitment to work together in friendship. The Governor added that the Consul had set a leading example in his hard work and assistance for both residents and Japanese nationals living in Chiang Mai.

Consul General Kazuo Shibata said in his farewell speech that his two years in office, since he took the post in late October 2011 had passed very quickly. He noted that he had received good cooperation from Thai authorities including the military, police, government and NGOs. He offered his sincere thanks for their continued support and cooperation.
Consul General Shibata will be taking up the post of Consul General at the Japanese Consulate General in Denpasar, Bali in Indonesia.
