Chevrolet Strengthens Presence in North Thailand

Narong Kongprasert, Managing Director of Charoen Motor Chiang Mai, Co. Ltd or Chevrolet Chiang Mai was joined by executives from Charoen Motor Group, Chevrolet Sales Thailand, VIP guests, local media and customers at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Chevrolet Sales Thailand (Chevrolet) opened its 18th dealership in the North in Chiang Mai on May 22, 2013 - increasing the availability of its products to more people in the largest city in northern Thailand. To date, this is Chevrolet’s 98th dealership nationwide.
Charoen Motor Chiang Mai, as the latest dealership is known, has a total area of 6,500 square-meters, and houses a more than 1,000 square-meter showroom and customer service area, in addition to 15 bays and 13 hoists in the service and maintenance area. The whole facility is designed according to Chevrolet’s new corporate identity, developed to enhance customers’ experience in the showroom and service center. The dealership has a total of 55 employees, most of whom are from the area.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of Charoen Motor Chiang Mai, Mr. Martin Apfel, President of General Motors Southeast Asia Operations, said, “This is one of the best times to join the family of Chevrolet dealers. We offer a full range of attractive Chevrolet products, and we are earning the trust of more and more customers every day especially here in Chiang Mai. Our portfolio of award-winning products - the Colorado, Trailblazer, Captiva, Cruze, Sonic, Spin and Aveo - answers to the needs of a broad range of customers and is complemented by a service-minded team around the country that puts the customer in the middle of everything we do. We value personal excellence and recognize that relationships matter when it comes to serving our customers.”
For the first quarter of 2013, Chevrolet sold 2,066 vehicles in the northern region. This represents a Q1 growth of 11% compared with the same period in 2012. For Chevrolet, the northern region covers Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Phayao, Lamphun, Phrae Nan, Kamphaengphet, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Sukhaothai, Nakhonsawan, Uttaradit, and Tak served by 18 dealerships. Currently, Chevrolet has 98 dealerships nationwide and Charoen Motor Chiangmai is in-line with the automaker’s plan to have 120 dealerships in Thailand by the end of 2013.
Parent-company Charoen Motor Group has a 14-year working relationship with Chevrolet, and already runs three successful Chevrolet dealerships in the northern region including Chiang Mai, Lampoon, and Lampang. Charoen Motor Chiangmai (Mahidol road) is the fourth dealership under the group and its second dealership in Chiang Mai city.
Charoen Motor Group’s annual sales rank in the top ten of Chevrolet’s national network and has been a winner of Chevrolet’s Grand Master Award and ‘Top Fleet Sales’ for five consecutive years, from 2006 to 2010. The owner, Mr. Narong Kongprasert, has more than 29 years of experience in the new-car business.
In 2012, Charoen Motor Lamphun was ranked as the best Chevrolet dealership in JD Power Asia Pacific 2012 Thailand Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI).
“I am happy and proud to be supporting Chevrolet in this part of Thailand, as Chevrolet has been supportive of my business since day one. Together, we have achieved many successes in Northern Thailand,” said Narong Kongprasert, Managing Director of Chareon Motor Chiang Mai Co. Ltd.
“Charoen Motor Group’s fourth Chevrolet dealership in the Northern Region, and the second in Chiang Mai, is testament of the Group’s and Chevrolet’s confidence in the growth potential in this region.
