Community Development center opens in Chiang Dao

Mr. Boeder is joined by community leaders, students and parents at the opening of the new community development center.

With the generous support of the German Embassy Bangkok in July, Helfen-Germany Charity NGO CEO Mr. Michael R. Boeder recently opened a Community Development Center in the mountains 10 kilometers from Chiang Dao. This new built center will be large enough to host twelve boys and twelve girls. These Palaung children are in urgent need and at the same time the center will serve their parents further studies on health, food, education, gardening, rights and human rights and very important in vocational training for income generation.
These families came from Burma 22 years ago and it was difficult for them to integrate into Thai society. To teach refugee children is good target, but Helfen-Germany will not forget about helping to educate and train the parents. There is a gap between modern education in school and the old traditional values of former times and the world is changing rapidly and does not stop at ethnic borders. There will be problems if parents are not also educated. Helfen-Germany will support this group called Genesis DaraUng for another three to five years as they have since 2008.
