Clubnapralan reunites in Chiang Mai with a diverse offering of art

The artists gathered for their holiday exhibition.

By Shana Kongmun
Clubnapralan is a group of mainly Bangkok based artists who have organized exhibitions to promote Thai arts in ASEAN held their second annual “Vacation Art Exhibition” at Chiang Mai University Arts Center. The exhibition features the works of 33 different artists with a great variety of mediums. The vivid portrait of trout was a digital print on canvas, a 3D metalwork sculpture, solid fiberglass, woodblock prints, acrylic and oils, and large wooden sculptures showed the great creativity of the Thai arts scene.

Tharatip Nateesu with his Bangkok Banana Uprising series.

Tharatip Nateesu featured his Bangkok Banana uprising works which featured Thai Bananas in with no fancy packaging or marketing rising up against overly packaged and heavily marketed expensive Japanese bananas purchased at Narita airport. With a whistle and Thai flags along with a few other things, the bananas were clearly a metaphor but for which side I hesitated to ask!
The exhibition is open until January 31 at CMU Arts Center on Nimmanhaemin Road, the Center is open Tuesdays – Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Concealment by Chartdee Siripachna.
