CMU’s diversity of fine arts

Pongsiri Kiddee’s silkscreen “Ideal of Prosperity – Virtue No. 4”

By Shana Kongmun
Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Fine Arts often puts on interesting and thought provoking exhibitions, the student thesis projects are always worth a visit. In fact, for those who enjoy art, the CMU Art Center is worth a visit on regularly since they seem to put on exhibitions in a consistent manner.

The latest exhibition, Prints as prints runs through January 28, 2014 and features works from students, professors and alumni of CMU. With works by such artists as Pongsiri Kiddee, a CMU alumnus, whose vibrant prints and pastels have made many consider him one of Thailand’s most promising young artists, to students and the Dean of the Faculty Dr. Pongdej Chaiyakut, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts whose prints often force those to look at the things they would otherwise ignore.

The exhibition is on display at the rear gallery of the Chiang Mai University Art Center on Nimmanhaemin Road until January 28.

Dr. Pongdej Chaiyakul has two woodcut prints at the exhibition.
