A.I.R. Exhibition at CMU Arts Center

Artists Jennifer Morrow from Northern Ireland (left) and David Jacobs from the United States showcased their works at the Surface Arts + Rumpueng Residency Program on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the CMU Arts Center Annex on the ground floor. The two artists joined in the residency program to spend more time in Asia. Jennifer has visited Chiang Mai before and David plans on traveling through China after his residency is complete. Both have an affinity for Asia and were glad to get the chance to join the Rumpueng Residency Program.

 


A month of photography in Chiang Mai

The f/28 Festival

The “f/28 Chiang Mai Month of Photography” Festival offers numerous photography exhibitions, talks, workshops, film screenings, portfolio reviews and much more throughout the month of February.
The festival is being curated by Documentary Arts Asia, in association with CMU Photo Art Department, while festival partners include Chiang Mai Creative City, Tedx Chiang Mai Salon, Thailand International Photographers Society (TIPS) and Focus Gallery.
Festival highlights include the exhibitions “Infidel” – an intimate documentary portrait of a US platoon in Afghanistan by the late, great photojournalist, Tim Hetherington – and “SIX: New Photography from Myanmar”, a collection of some of the best documentary photography coming out of the country today. Both exhibitions run from Feb 4th – 11th at CMU Art Center.
As well as exhibitions, there will be film screenings, workshops and a special photography-themed Tedx Chiang Mai Salon (Feb 8) at Documentary Arts Asia on Wualai soi 3. Workshops include “Time Lapse” (Feb 9), “Learning to Love Your Flash” (Feb 15), “Documentary Photography Visual Storytelling Workshop” (Feb 16 and 22) and “Photography for Teens” (Feb 23).
Thailand International Photographers Society, in association with Focus Gallery, is honored to be a partner of the “f/28 Chiang Mai Month of Photography” Festival. TIPS/Focus events as part of the festival include a free photography workshop by Kevin Landwer-Johan on Sun Feb 2nd and a TIPS group exhibition, “Faces of Thailand”, throughout February at Focus Gallery, 213 Huay Kaew Rd.

New reality show auditions martial artists

“Martial Warrior” seeks new reality TV stars

Aspiring martial arts stars competed for the chance to take part in Thailand’s very first martial arts reality show “Martial Warrior”

The first of its kind, the new reality show based on various types of martial arts, “Martial Warrior” was in Chiang Mai at the Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport on February 1, 2014 auditioning Chiang Mai’s best fighters.
The show, in cooperation with True Visions and JSL Global Media wanted offer Thai martial artists the opportunity to become the latest reality star. The host of the show, singer and model “Yves” Puttatida Sirachaya as well as Katreeya English, the singer and actress who will be a judge on the show.
Martial Warrior is a new form of reality TV that brings in martial artists to compete with the opprotunity to win the show. The next auditions will be held at Khon Kaen, Hat Yai and Bangkok. Follow the show at www. martialwarrior.tv +#7-facebook .com/ martialwarrior.tv
