The U.S. Consulate General in Chiang Mai welcomed U.S. Science Envoy Dr. Geri Richmond to Chiang Mai. The U.S. Science Envoy Program sends leading American scientists around the globe to engage with foreign governments, businesses, universities, and the private sector to identify opportunities for sustained scientific cooperation and economic prosperity. Dr. Geri Richmond gave a talk on “Women in Science and Technology” to postgrad students and academics from Chiang Mai University (CMU), co-hosted by Science and Technology Park (STEP), and highlighted “Life as a Scientist” to science students from Satit Demonstration School and Faculty of Science at Chiang Mai University. Dr. Richmond, joined by the Embassy team, also visited CMU Energy Research and Development Institute.

Food and Beverage Manager Michael Hofstetter of Le Méridien Chiang Mai hosts the first party event of the New Year under the theme “Sparkling at Le Méridien Chiang Mai” and asked everyone to wear white clothes or white accessories. The resident DJ kept the crowd entertained while they enjoyed sparkling concoctions before taking to the dance floor.

Wat and the team at Ram Bar collected donations for Kids Ark Foundation recently and are seen here presenting the donated funds to Rita Holm Gustafsson, board member of Kids Ark Foundation at the Kids Ark Foundation, a non-religious, non-political organization dedicated to helping disadvantaged and ethnic minority children in Northern Thailand.

On Wednesday 17 December, the Hope House Holiday Giving Tree project group from Prem International attended the holiday party at Hope House, deliver the gifts, eat dinner together with the children, lead some games, and distribute the gifts that the Prem community had donated during December. The newest members of Hope House received gifts for the first time, and this was the first gift some of them had ever received. Once all of the gifts were unwrapped, the Prem students were inundated with big hugs and thank-yous for organising the project. The gratefulness of these children for the surprises and loving gifts they received was clear throughout the evening and is a great example of the amazing work being done at Hope House. There are many children at Hope House who still need to find sponsors to support the costs for living and learning in Hope House. The Chiang Mai Reporters Club organized a Bowling Charity Tournament on December 10, 2014 at Bully Bowl and Governor Suriya Prasatbuntitya joined board and club members for the event. President Manit Khemkhum said the event was organized to earn money to use for the club’s charitable activities. Huen Mai Chao Soi Team took first place while second place went to the Chiang Mai Provincial Police Team and received the trophy from Chiang Mai Provincial Administration Organization Boonlert Buranupakorn. The third place went to the Chiang Mai Provincial Police 2 Team with Pol. Col. Montree Sambunnanon, Commander of Chiang Mai Provincial Police handing out the prize. Fourth place went to Mae Hia Municipality who received the trophy from KomsanSuwan-Ampha, the head of the Department of Disaster prevention and Mitigation Region 10, Lampang.


Doi Ping Mansion celebrated their annual in-house Christmas party on December 23, 2014 where Pravut Kanchanawat welcomed friends and guests to the party including fellow classic car enthusiasts.
