A message from Santisook Dog and Cat Rescue volunteers

Beautiful Ben, a friendly calico kitty, is
looking for a loving home.
We are a small group of volunteers,
Thai and farang, dedicated to helping the cats and dogs of Chiang Mai. Mid
June will see the completion of our cat rescue shelter at Doi Saket. This is
a really exciting project and should coincide with us receiving our Charity
Foundation status. We've been rescuing and taking in cats since 2009, but at
last we will have a purpose built facility.
Street dogs and cats are part of life
here and we are striving to alleviate some of the suffering. We've been
working within local communities since 2009, trying to find solutions to dog
and cat related problems that allow them, where possible, to stay in their
home environment rather than removing them to our shelters. Our Number One
priority is sterilization.

Ben’s close
friend is the lovely blue eyed Pool.
These are our latest arrivals; three
kittens found in a tissue box in the gutter. They were found by one of our
workmen on his way into work. They are only about 10 days old so need
feeding every few hours for the next few weeks. Volunteer Nan is on hand for
this! Then, two blue eyed beauties were dumped outside our dog shelter in
Sanpatong along with their very friendly mommy and a black sister. They will
be ready for adoption at the end of May.
We have wonderful, friendly cats and
kittens available for adoption. Kittens are gorgeous, it's agreed! But many
of our residents are older cats who are so friendly, we can only imagine
that they are pet cats who've been dumped. They really do deserve a second
chance. Take Ben, a very pretty calico girl about a year old, dumped at
Warorot market. She's one of the friendliest cats I've met, yet because
she's a little older, is overlooked for adoption. She's got lots of energy
and so much love to give. She gets on great with the other cats so you
needn't be restricted to just one cat. Her close friend is Pool, a beautiful
blue eyed girl rescued after a bike accident. She has made a good recovery
from a broken leg but would do best in a quiet residential area. Pool is
roughly one year old too. Call K. Fon 081 638 2105 (Thai & English) or Gilly
0871 89 1623 (English) For an appointment. Email:
contact@santisookdogsandcats.org
We need donations to continue our
rescue work. We welcome gifts of food, cat litter, bedding, and toys too!
Open House Sundays! Once our shelter is finished we are going to have open
house every Sunday! Watch out for details!

Sweet, good natured girl looking for a forever home!

Hi, I'm Callie. I'm between 1 to 2
years old with a beautiful short chocolate coat. I get along well with other
dogs, and I love attention from people too. I'm a very sweet, good-natured
girl--can I come live with you? I've had all of my shots, and I'm spayed so
you don't even have to worry about puppies! You can meet me by contacting
the Care for Dogs shelter at: 084 752 5255 (English), 086 913 8701 (Thai) or
via email at: contact@carefordogs.org. Or visit our website at

Bunny Luv

Bunny Luv was set up in 2010 to help rescue the
many rabbits people buy as pets and then neglect or abandon.
Bunny Luv is a non-profit rabbit sanctuary in Chiang Mai.
There, rabbits have been rescued from terrible and often life-threatening
conditions.
Most often these rabbits have been
purchased and then left in cages to become ill, mainly from neglect, as
people do not realize they need proper nutrition and exercise to maintain a
healthy life. At Bunny Luv the first thing done is to bring them back to
optimal health by freeing them from a cage, are then given any medical
attention that is needed, and finally to be cared for with compassion by
socializing them with people and other rabbits.
When these rabbits are ready for their
new lives, they are adopted into caring homes with a suitable environment.
This includes a safe, clean outdoor area with room for activity and
nutritious food, including plenty of fresh water. Rabbits can have a long
life span and will live a long and happy life when looked after with proper
care. They are very gentle animals and bring endless joy to their human
friends.
If you are interested in the welfare of
rabbits in need, would like to adopt or help monetarily, please contact via
email form on the website

Super furry animal!

Duk Dik is an adorable medium sized male with a gorgeous
cream coat. He's a good-natured fellow who is very affectionate with adults
and other dogs, although he would probably be best in a home without small
children. He would be a wonderful addition to the right home, especially one
with a secure fence as he likes to chase bicycles. If you'd like to meet
him, please contact the Care for Dogs shelter at: 084 752 5255 (English),
086 913 8701 (Thai) or email contact@carefordogs.org. Or visit our website
at www.carefordogs.org for more information.
Charlie boy

This gorgeous young fellow is around 2 years old. He's a
sweetheart, but quite shy at first--so he's looking for that special someone
who has the time and patience to help him to trust people. He is a medium
size with a short easy coat. If you'd like to meet him, please contact the
Care for Dogs shelter at: 084 752 5255 (English), 086 913 8701 (Thai) or
email contact@carefordogs.org. Or visit our website at www.carefordogs.org
