Bangkok Airways management team announces list
of 2016 marketing initiatives at yesterday’s press conference in Bangkok.
Bangkok Airways has launched special fares tailored for domestic business
travel this year announced airline President, Mr. Puttipong
Prasarttong-Osoth at a recent press conference at the Pinnacle Room,
InterContinental Hotel in Bangkok to outline the company’s operating and
marketing plans for 2016.
The company has signed an Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) on two projects,
namely, ‘domestic meeting and seminar promotion’ and ‘Thai foods and fruits
promotion’; part of Thailand’s ‘San Palang Pracharat’ campaign to boost the
country’s local and international tourism. A new 4-region inflight menu
serving Thai fruits is now available onboard and in its airport lounges.
Mr. Prasarttong-Osoth said that it has responded to the government’s policy
to promote tourism for travellers with special needs by introducing special
fares for officials, senior citizens and the disabled as well as ‘U fare’
for Thailand’s university teachers and students in addition to packages that
include flight, hotel and tour programs for popular routes such as Koh
Samui, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Luang Prabang and the Maldives.
The company has purchased three ATR72-600s and four Airbus A319s, increasing
its fleet size to 36. It will also add new routes to the schedule: from
Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son, Bangkok to Danang (Vietnam) and Koh Samui to
Guangzhou in China. More flights will be available in popular sectors during
the high-season including Bangkok-Phnom Penh from five to six flights per
day, Bangkok-Chiang Mai from seven to eight flights per day, Chiang
Mai-Samui and Samui-Singapore to two flights per day each.
There are also plans to lower the airlines’ carbon footprint with its
‘Sustainable Destinations’ campaign to preserve the natural environment in
popular tourist destinations with activities like coconut tree-planting in
Koh Samui and encouraging its staff to actively reduce and recycle waste in
The list of marketing initiatives in the works to increase passenger volume
this year include hiring well-known Thai-Norwegian actress/model, Urassaya
Sperbund (Yaya) as its ambassador to promote Thailand in the North and South
East Asian regions. Brand advertising in the English Premier League (EPL)
and sponsorship of local sporting events and competitions are other
highlights on the list.
2016 marks the 48th anniversary of Bangkok Airways. The airline will
celebrate this by offering 48,000 special fare tickets via online booking,
starting from 480 baht per domestic sector and international fares starting
from 1,480 baht per sector.
