SISB begins construction on new campus in Chiang Mai

Singapore International School of Bangkok expanding to the North

The foundation stone for the new Singapore International School of Bangkok (SISB) was laid on Monday, June 20 where the event was presided over by Deputy Governor Putipong Sirimatya.

SISB Chiang Mai is the first Singapore International School to be launched in Northern Thailand. The new campus spans 5-rai with a capacity for up to 750 students ages 2 to 12 years old (Nursery-Kindergarten to Primary Level). SISB Chiang Mai will offer the unique Singapore-UK curriculum in English, Chinese and Thai and the facilities will include a 25-metre swimming pool, indoor multi-purpose hall, canteen, library, music room, science lab, arts & crafts room, computer lab and hard court, with full completion expected by Academic Year 2016 - 2017.

“SISB Chiang Mai is our first development beyond the Bangkok Metropolitan Area and we are excited about the launch of this new campus, which marks a new phase for our school’s growth. This opportunity will enable us to serve the community in Northern Thailand with the unique Singapore curriculum, which integrates English, Chinese and Thai languages as the foundation for teaching and learning,” says Mr. Kelvin Koh, Chief Executive Officer, SISB Group & Chairman of the School Governing Board (Pracha Uthit).

SISB Chiang Mai is part of the ongoing large-scale expansion project of the Group which is also developing an all-new 9.5-rai Secondary Complex at the Pracha Uthit campus, which will cater for up to 800 more students. The new project enriches sports and performing arts education of the school with state-of-the-art Sports Complex with extensive facilities including a 25-metre swimming pool, a 450-seat Auditorium and Boarding Houses which can accommodate up to 400 students, with full completion expected by Academic Year 2016-2017.
