CMU to host Thailand Studies Conference and Asia Scholars Convention in 2017

Chiang Mai University and Pingkanakorn Development Agency signed an agreement to host two separate events in 2017; the 13th International Conference on Thai Studies and the 10th International Convention of Asia Scholars – ICAS10 in July, 2017 at the International Convention Center.

The signing was attended by Governor Pawin Chaminprasart, acting as Executive Managing Director of Pingkanakorn Development Agency and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rome Jiranukom, Acting for Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations and Alumni, Chiang Mai University, Dr. Chayan Watthanaphut, Director of Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development: RCSD, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University, and Netnapa Suthidhamrongdhama, Director of Pingkanakorn Development Agency (Public Organization).

The 13th International Conference on Thai Studies will be hosted by Chiang Mai University for Thai and international academicians to present academic works relating to Thai studies and to exchange experience, research work, and create academic networks. About 600 people are expected to participate in the conference that will be held from July 15 – 18, 2017.

The 10th International Convention of Asia Scholars – ICAS10 will be held in cooperation with Chiang Mai University and the International Institute for Asia Studies (IIAS), Netherland. The convention will offer a stage for the presentation of academic works of international scholars interested in Asian Studies. Around 1,200 people are expected to attend the event held at the International Convention Center form July 20 – 23, 2017.

Rajamangala University students win 6 awards in Asian Packaging Congress

Kotchakorn Panloy, Anothai Kuna, Satienpong Singsai, Nattaporn Rammanee, Nattapong Chaiwong and Thanat Sompan from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna took home awards from the Asian Packaging Congress held in Mumbai, India this month.

Six students from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna took home awards from the Asian Packaging Congress held in Mumbai, India this month.

According to ThaiStar Packaging Awards 2016 under the concept “Thai Identity going to the AEC” senior students studying Packaging Technology at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna were selected as winners in the Thai Packaging Contest. Kotchakorn Panloy won with his mango wood package, while Anothai Kuna took first runner up with her wooden jigsaws in farmer series. Satienpong Singsai won for his ceramic elephants, Nattaporn Rammanee won for her products in conch series, Nattapong Chaiwong won for his wooden carved lions, and Thanat Sompan won for his ceramic altar tables. The students represented Thailand in the Asian Packaging contest and all won the AsianStar 2016 (Award for Packaging Excellence).

Mango wood dishes by Kotchakorn Panloy won first prize in the Packaging Design Contest.

This award was presented by the Asian Packaging Federation which has members from 15 countries; Thailand, Japan, India, Malaysia, China, Bangladesh, Iran, Korea, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Philippine, Singapore, and Turkey.

Ajarn Sasithorn Thongpreamjit, Lecturer in Creative Thinking and Head of Lecturers, said that the students’ works in past packaging contests was focused on Team Teaching together with Ajarn Watchawuth Putthirino, Ajarn Sittaporn Phomkulasit, Ajarn Sirinapa Phomaban, and Ajarn Radchadaporn Jaiman to help and control production for domestic contest. The six works of the students will be presented at the World Star Packaging Awards 2017 for consideration in that contest.
